Frequent Nosebleed Solutions

Patients who experience chronic nosebleeds often have an exposed blood vessel in the nose. By closing off this blood vessel, most patients will experience significantly fewer nosebleeds, if not complete relief. Cauterization is an effective treatment for chronic nosebleeds that involves burning the nose with an electrical device to close off part of the nose and prevent bleeding. During the procedure, your nose will be numbed so as to avoid any discomfort, and a microscope will be used to inspect the lining of your nose (and more precisely target the source of the bleeding). This area will then be burned with a chemical agent or electrical device that destroys or coagulates the tissue in the area.

To prevent nosebleeds on your own, you can use saline nose drops, a humidifier, or a common vaporizer daily to help keep the inner nose moisturized. It is also important to avoid nasal trauma, such as nose picking and other activities that can cause irritation.
